Six Tips To Achieve Happiness

Of course you know that happiness is a state of mind, right? If you make up your mind to be happy now, the life you lead will be so much more enriched and fulfilling. And the key to doing this is to remain in a positive state of happiness, and here are six tips to help you achieve that.

Be grateful for the things you have in life

Being grateful and thankful for the things in our lives helps us to focus on what is important to us and the positive aspects those things entail. Bring to mind your family, your friends and recall some of the good times you spent with them. By all means bring to mind your material possessions but understand that friends and family are a greater source of happiness.

Love and be loved

Express your love to the people closest to you on a regular basis. Show them your feelings and affection, and spend time with them whenever you can. When you can’t be together there are always other ways to stay in touch and let them know you are thinking of them.

Live an active life

Get out into the fresh air take regular exercise even if it’s just going for a walk around the neighbourhood. It’s even better if you can get out into the countryside and breath in the fresh clean air. If you stop to enjoy the moment you realize how alive you feel.

Stay away from negative people

Those people who moan about every aspect of their lives will eventually drag you down to their level of misery over a period of time. Their negative language will filter into your mind and become part of your internal dialog. Before you know it you’ll feel depressed and be telling yourself things like, “I feel miserable“. And if you tell yourself something often enough you’ll start to believe it! Stay well clear and instead surround yourself with happy and successful people and benefit from their positive outlook on life.

Make other people happy

Do a good turn for somebody else, or even just pay them a genuine compliment. If you are sincere, your compliment or good deed will have real value to the recipient. Their mood will be lifted and the happiness created will be enduring.

Laugh a lot

Find a way to laugh as often as you can. Try not to take life too seriously and maybe you’ll be able to laugh at yourself a little. Or you can always turn to your favorite comedy movie or TV show to get the laughter going. Laughter releases the endorphins and allows us to feel better quickly.

We can all make a conscious choice to be happy and in that way, take control over the way we feel. Taking an active approach to ensuring our happiness is a far better approach than leaving it to chance and just hoping that happiness finds us.
