Critics ridiculed them and called their hideous footwear “flip flops.” Well, that was then. Today, flip flops have elevated into a higher level of respectability never seem to be expected from such informal flip flops. When original flip flops used to be made only of rubber with simple and even plain designs, modern flip flops have evolved into new and more elegant materials and designs suitable for other casual occasions besides being only confined to beach and pool wear, and even home wear. Now more fabulous and versatile, flip flops are no longer purely functional footwear but fashionable enough to be worn in different kinds of gatherings. Stylish, comfortable and definitely affordable, flip flops are not only a trend but a whole new level of fashion statement reflecting the fun and versatile woman for years and years to come.
From the original rubber flip flops, they now come in a variety of materials and designs to suit every function and style. Today, flip flops come in leather, plastic and even wood in simple or elegant designs. From the standard flat, thin rubber soles, flip flops also now come in different heights and heels from mid-high to very high, thick soles to appear more casual. And the colors? Simply endless. Solid patterns, bold prints, or even multi-color designs, flip flops come from basic colors, neutral to dark tones, pastel and even bright, neon colors. Metallic, shiny or subdued, you can find everything you want in flip flops. In fact, they have become so versatile, practical and actually respected that they now also come as bridal footwear. Called bridal flip flops or wedding flip flops, they are a bride’s emergency footwear in case her feet start hurting from those awfully high and uncomfortable wedding shoes. In a beach or garden wedding, bridal flip flops may even be the primary bridal footwear for a more relaxed, fun and comfortable atmosphere.
Bridal flip flops are an ingenuous invention, if not one of the most. Wedding shoes are usually high heels or even stilettos that may be elegant to look at at first but after a while feels uncomfortable and in fact agonizing.
