This Error Fix review takes a look at the 2010 edition to see what improvements have been made to it’s registry and error repair capabilities, aside from the fact that it now supports Windows 7.
The impetus for doing an Error Fix review of the latest version came after seeing it get five full stars from Tucows (a rare enough occurrence). In comparison to other registry cleaners it has been incrementally improved upon for the past couple of years and this new release still focuses on the core functionality of registry repair and optimization.
Once started, the simple interface is intuitive enough with many users probably going for the 1-click scan option. This scan is ideal for weekly PC maintenance and repair, takes only 2 minutes to run and performs a subset of scan types that will catch the brunt of errors.
The advanced scanning options are worth delving into, in parallel with the user forums/documentation, when you are ready to start tuning the scans to be run.
The program will do automatic backups of the registry as you work and is by far the easiest way to rollback virus damage/application install damage to the registry file. A top tip is to clone the backups to disk/CD in case of blue screen exception.
The one free product upgrades does seem a little stingy though given the obvious development work that goes into the product (e.g. it was one of the first to support Windows 7) then it is probably worth it given how current and up to date the product stays.
The addition of cleaning tools (of temp files & personal information) are nice to have features in the product, though less powerful than dedicated tools (e.g. freeware options like CCleaner).
Any Error Fix product review you read will no doubt be positive about the product’s registry cleaning and error repair capabilities. The one flaw in the product is the limited free upgrades which many competitors provide for free.
