Choosing a Cd Storage Rack and Where to Put It

One of the reasons why media and music discs become heavily scratched and damaged is because we tend to leave them out of their cases and unorganized. For this reason every music, movie or video game collector needs a storage rack.

A media storage rack can really save the life of your precious discs. Not only can your discs be expensive, they may even be hard to find if you collect rare items, so you do need to keep them organized and out of the hands of greedy friends and family. A good storage rack is one that is sturdy enough not to wobble when full and has a solid construction overall. It doesn’t have to be industrial grade but it should hold your discs and their cases without collapsing or falling apart.

The rack itself is not the only thing that matters. The area where your collection is should be one that is also suited for the task. You should avoid areas or rooms where there is a lot of moisture. This is in order to avoid fungus getting into the cases and eventually into the discs. You should also make sure not to store media where it is subject to direct sunlight. If sunlight hits the cases it can easily warp them damaging the media inside or even worst if it hits the media for a prolonged period of time it can very easily damage it completely. Usually products that are warped due to direct sunlight are rendered useless and cannot be fixed no matter what you try to do to them so be very careful.

As you can see, you have to be careful where you place your media or CD storage rack even if you buy a product that is sturdy and resistant. Remember that objects are not the only things that can damage your collection the environment can too. So store your music, movies or whatever you collect wisely.
