Black Mold Removal: Don't Do It Yourself

In many homes today, black mold deposits can appear on any surface at any time, which makes black mold removal an important project for many homeowners to address sooner rather than later.

The mold can form on hidden as well as exposed wall and floor surfaces when the relative humidity stays above 48% for more than 12-14 hours a day for many days in a row.  A pipe that is leaking can be one thing that can cause this moisture problem; however most of the time the problem comes from standing water near or under the foundation of the house.

Rain gutter down spouts that are in disrepair can certainly create situations where water can collect and fail to drain away properly.  Sometimes it more simple than even that; when you inspect your property look to see if the ground around the foundation walls slopes away from the home, if this is not the case then you most likely have identified your water source.

After fixing the gutters and downspouts or adding soil and properly draining the rain water away your foundation, it is time to begin to abate or remove the mold you have found.

It is not recommended that do it yourself consumers attempt to do the mold removal on their own without professional assistance.  The toxic effects that some strains of common back mold can have on unprotected eyes and lungs are very severe and should never be taken lightly.

If you are brave enough to try and be an expert mold removal specialist yourself, then please do as much research as you can.  By educating your self in the basic techniques of proper eye protection and proper lung protection you can be somewhat sure of completing the task successfully and at the same time keeping your self as well as the surrounding neighborhood safe and not contaminated by airborne mold spores.
