When it comes to tattoo removal, there are many different products and treatment methods available. Note however that nearly all of them can be grouped into just a few different categories. In this article we will give a brief overview of these different methods.
1. Over the Counter Creams
Many different products fall under the umbrella of over the counter tattoo removal cream. These non prescription cream products are advertised as an at home tattoo removal method for getting rid of a tattoo without going to the doctor or using the expensive methods below. Popular tattoo removal creams include Wrecking Balm cream, Tat B Gone, and Tattoo Off.
2. TCA or Dermasal
TCA, or good ol’ Trichloracetic Acid, is the active ingredient in a similar product called Dermasal, which is also sold over the counter and without a doctors prescription or involvement. TCA has been used since at least the 1970’s for removing tattoos.
3. Rejuvi Tattoo Removal
Rejuvi is an advanced method that required treatments from a trained professional at a rejuvi clinic. This method is about as expensive and takes about as long to work as laser treatments. It’s one of the only professional tattoo removal methods to come along in the last two decades on par with lasers.
4. Laser Tattoo Treatments
Everyone knows about laser removal – and for good reason, it works! Laser removal, as mentioned, takes time and costs quite a bit of money. But it’s a great method removing tattoos with no second guessing involved as to if it will work or not.
From these four methods, I hope you can see a bit more what the options on the table are when it comes to removing a tattool. I’d say they are listed here from least effective to most effective. Interestingly enough, they are also ordered from least expensive to most expensive. What does that say?
